As a hitman, Siegel “disposed of” a number of New York’s prominent mobsters. In the 1920s, he worked with Mafia boss Charles “Lucky” Luciano’s syndicate. His “Bugsy” moniker evidenced his brutal, unpredictable behavior, prone to “bugging out” at will. Siegel established himself as a formidable mastermind of organized crime, forging an underworld empire from bootlegging, gambling, and assassinations. The Bugs-Meyer Gang even reportedly oversaw a subgroup of contract killers known as Murder, Inc. The pair formed their own criminal collective, the Bugs-Meyer Gang, of Jewish mobsters. In 1918, Siegel made an important friend: Meyer Lansky, another young street rough. He soon fell in with the neighborhood’s culture of crime. No matter their ethnicity or national origin, everyone in Williamsburg was poor and hungry. His parents were Jewish immigrants, but Siegel was raised in Williamsburg, a troubled neighborhood that, at the time, had been home to many Irish and Italian gangs. If you want to be located where you will do most of your partying, dining and gambling, I still think it is a decent choice, but you might choose one with more included in that one resort. We also wander across the street or south to Bally's, Paris, MGM, etc. We enjoy wandering the strip from Flamingo to OSheas, and Harrah's and Casino Royale and on up the strip to Wynn. Our partying is pretty much drinking drinks we get for free at casinos when we gamble and then occasionally buying a drink when we want one right then. ![]() There isn't a thing wrong with the standard rooms, but they won't be as nice as Hollywood Hip rooms at PH or whatever room you might have had at MB, but the GO rooms (which are a small upgrade fee per night) make Flamingo worth it for me. Flamingo is a lot of fun and I enjoy staying there. Mandalay Bay and Planet Hollywood are nicer properties in that they are more of a full resort (with a lot of nearby shopping and many good dining options).
